Laser Vision SA is pleased to be informed by Zeiss, manufacturer of the Visumax laser used to perform SMILE laser vision correction, of some outstanding landmark numbers.
Zeiss reports over 1.5 million SMILE procedures have now been completed worldwide since the procedure was developed 14 years ago. In addition, Zeiss has now sold over 1,000 Visumax lasers. The rate of uptake of the SMILE procedure at laser vision centres around the world, including Europe, Asia, and North America is increasing very rapidly. The number of Visumax lasers sold by Zeiss is now significantly greater than sold for the traditional Excimer laser used for LASIK.
This is great evidence for the success, safety and patient and surgeon acceptance of the SMILE procedure.
SMILE is now the commonest laser vision correction procedure we perform at Laser Vision SA.
