Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a common condition that affects a growing number of children worldwide. There are several options available for myopia control in children, including:

  1. Eyeglasses or contact lenses: These can be prescribed to correct myopia and help children see clearly, but they do not slow down the progression of the condition.
  2. Orthokeratology (Ortho-K): This is a non-surgical option that involves the use of specially designed contact lenses worn overnight. They temporarily reshape the cornea and reduce myopia, but it does not stop the progression of the condition.
  3. Atropine Eye drops: Atropine is a medication that dilates the pupil and temporarily reduces the eye's ability to focus. This can slow down the progression of myopia in children. However, it has some side effects like light sensitivity, near vision blur, dry eye and more.
  4. Multifocal contact lenses and Spectacle lenses: These can be prescribed to reduce the progression of myopia by minimizing the amount of time the eye spends in a highly focused state.
  5. Progressive addition lenses: These are a type of eyeglass lens that gradually change in power from the top to the bottom. They are designed to reduce the progression of myopia by reducing the amount of time the eye spends in a highly focused state.

It's important to note that these methods are not a cure for myopia, and the best approach is to consult with a qualified eye care professional, who will be able to recommend the best course of treatment based on your child's specific needs and circumstances.
